Welcome to TAGS4SHANE... it's important to us for you to be here. This is our story.
Shane Lorne Weigensberg loved his family, loved life, loved giving of himself, helping others, and loved the excitement of living somewhat on the edge. As a certified automobile mechanic by trade, motorized vehicles were a particular passion of his. As a child, "Shaney" was always extremely active, and his enthusiasm for being busy and beyond, grew incrementally as he aged. Shane loved to work on high performance vehicles and was gaining recognition in his field of expertise, as he worked at EK Performance, Porsche Prestige, and finally CJ Auto 2000 (alongside his dad and brother.) Shane loved to ride snowmobiles, sea-doos, cars, and motorcycles. He would tell you that he was a "professional." On May 18, 2018, Shane was out on his sport bike with a group of his buddies; staying out later than he should have given he had work in the morning. He knew he needed to get home. It was 3:00 am, he was driving way too fast and didn't stop at at least 2 red lights, that we now know of. When he saw the white van in his path, he tried to get around the back of it, but instead crashed into the back wheel. He had no reaction time. He pretty much died on impact. Our beautiful son and brother, Shane, was 26.96 years young. Shane's death should never have happened. He was trying to get home quickly, and didn't THINK about getting home SAFELY. Our family's mission and focus have been to try to save other seemingly invincible young people and really, anybody who needs the inspiration, from our tragic situation. We are opening our raw feelings, and sharing our grief, so people will see the nightmare that a tragic death inflicts on family and friends. Our program, called TAGS4SHANE is the essentially the acronym for THINK, ACT, GET SAFE, 4SHANE. Why? Because you CAN! It's really quite simple... if you want to celebrate your next birthday, build productive and fulfilling lives for yourselves, start families, grow old with your families, and enjoy life for many years to come, you NEED to THINK about the things that you are doing. You need to THINK, before you ACT, and incorporate this into the life that you want to have. Our family has been very vocal at emphasizing SAFETY, which may well be in your own hands, as a means of helping to prevent others from walking in our very uncomfortable and painful shoes. We have a few programs in place... our "Shaney Bear" was created to serve as a visual for SAFETY awareness and recognition, as Shane was a very generous young man; helping others anytime, anyplace. Through "Shaney Bear" sales, we have and will continue to donate all the net proceeds to causes that our Shaney would have approved of. Our new TAGS4SHANE are human-military style-dog TAGS, created with the acronym that makes sense to us... again, THINK, ACT, GET, SAFE... because you CAN! We will continue to donate all net proceeds of these TAGS to either individuals in need or charities... with SAFETY AWARENESS and ACTION taken by you, being our driving forces. On Sunday, May 26, 2019, "SHANE'S HONOUR RIDE" will take place at the ICAR track in Mirabel, Quebec. The event is still in the planning stages, but Jamie, Shane's older brother, will drive honour laps around the track, in Shane's own Mustang... the car he loved. Admission will be charged, and there will be food trucks, swag bags, other TBA ideas; and proceeds will once again be shared among different charities and causes. We encourage you to visit our group Facebook page that Shane's friends created for him... Shane Weigensberg OUR angel to see for yourselves how we are trying to encourage people to THINK before they ACT. If you would like more information on purchasing "Shaney Bears" or TAGS4SHANE, please message Elayne Kazenel Weigensberg on messenger. We need to keep this crucial message current, clear, and ONGOING!!! All net proceeds are donated to charities or causes that Shane Weigensberg, our Shaney would have approved of. We look forward to hearing from you! We hope to keep adding to this website so that more people are encouraged, inspired, and on point. Thanx for your time, Elayne, Cary, Jamie, Mandy, Irit, Dylan, and R.I.P. Shane Weigensberg
